Acer Chromebook CB3-131-C3SZ

Acer laptops – and recently, Chromebooks – are among my favorites. They are always high quality products and come at very affordable prices. I just love them!

This Acer Chromebook has some great stats for its price: it is powered by an Intel Celeron N2840 processor that runs at an impressive 2.16 GHz. It has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of SSD storage. Although this might sound like insanely little for a laptop, all Chromebooks are built in a similar fashion since they’re intended to be used online most of the time. However, it does have and SD card reader slot, as well as two USB slots so you can increase that storage a bit if you need to. It also has an HDMI port in case you want to connect it to your TV and a decent built-in webcam.

Although it is an 11.6-inch Chromebook, it offers great image quality at 1366 x 768 resolution). It also has a beautiful design and is very light thanks to its Aluminum cover. It also has great battery life – lasting up to 9 hours on a single charge according to the manufacturers, but consider about 5 hours just to be safe. All in all, a light, comfortable and good Chromebook that sells at a great price!

This is, in my opinion, an even better choice and probably the best looking Chromebook on our list. At least I love it – and it’s not just the looks that make me love this product!

This Chromebook is powered by a solid quad-core processor, the Rockchip RK3288 which did really well in benchmarking tests. It also has 4GB of RAM for the extra boost of speed. It comes with 16GB of SSD Storage and ASUS’ Trusted Platform Module which promises enhanced security for sensitive information. It also has and HDMI port, SD card reader slot and 2 USB slots.

You’d think that since it’s just 0.7 inches thin and weights under 2 pounds, these are his strong points – but the best thing about it is the battery life which ASUS says will last up to 13 hours. That is pretty impressive and allows for a lot of work to be done! All in all, one amazing choice for our budget and the obvious pick for an 11.6-inch cheap Chromebook.

Lenovo Chromebook N22

Lenovo’s N22 is within our budget at the moment of writing this thanks to a great discount – but make sure to check out the product and see if it still fits as the discount might not last forever. However, if you get it at this price, you’re in for some nice features as it does have the most bells and whistles on our list!

Build to last, the Lenovo N22 is reinforced around hinges and ports, they keyboard has anti-peel keys and is water resistant and so on. In other words, it’s great for travel and less than ideal conditions! It also comes with an interesting webcam which can be rotated, meaning that it can also show you images from behind the laptop, unlike most front-facing laptop cameras. This could be completely useless for most users, but if you’re starting the digital nomad lifestyle and you’re on a beach in Bali, talking to your friends, you can easily show them your office near the sea with the help of this camera.

In terms of performance, the N22 is not stellar, but there’s nothing to complain about either. It has 4GB of RAM and the “default” 16GB of SSD storage, while being powered by a dual-core processor, the Intel N3060 which offers decent speed when using the product.

Like most Lenovo laptops, it doesn’t excel when it comes to design – and it’s not extremely light – compared to other Chromebooks – as it weights about 2.7 lbs, but it gets the job done and is rugged and durable!

Best Chromebooks under $200 (over 11.6-inch)

When it comes to laptops over 11.6 inches that run on the Chrome OS, our choices are really limited. We did find a bunch of refurbished options and even though usually these are good products, since there’s still a risk involved that they might not work properly or come with unexpected problems, I decided to skip the refurbished ones and look for brand new Chromebooks. We did find three great products and you can check them out below:

Lenovo ThinkPad 13

Another Lenovo product, this time a bit larger than our previous Chromebooks. It’s again a rugged and durable product – its manufacturers claiming that it passes 12 military-grade tests. Which is pretty impressive, even if you’re not planning to go to war with it.

It is powered by a decent Intel Celeron 3855U processor, 4GB of RAM and comes with a 16GB eMMC drive. The eMMC is considered the cheaper version of the SSD (being also slightly slower), but that’s understandable since we’re talking about a 13-inch Chromebook here, so they had to cut the costs somehow. And eMMC drives are still much better than regular HDDs in my opinion, offering a solid speed boost as well!

The image quality is good: you’ll get 1366 x 768 resolution here, as well as two USB-C ports, 2 regular USB ports and an SD card reader slot. In other words, you’re getting a larger Chromebook for the price of a smaller one. This also sells at a large discount at the moment of writing this article, so make sure to check it out (and buy it fast) as this special offer lasts, otherwise it might get over our budget!

UK & Europe: Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a similar product

You have an alternative for the Lenovo Chromebook above, coming from ASUS. It’s very similar in terms of specifications: it has 4GB of RAM, 16GB of storage (but this time, it’s a SSD we’re talking about), while the processor is slightly weaker as the C300SA is powered by the Intel Core Celeron N3060, which can, however, be Turbo boosted to 2.48 GHz. Also, it lacks the 2 USB-C ports of the ThinkPad 13, but still has 2 regular USB ports and an SD card reader.

The differences are not major, though, and if the Lenovo laptop’s discount offer ends, you can still get the ASUS C300SA – it’ll be almost the same thing. So, in the end, it’s a matter of which brand you prefer and how do the prices look like when you make the purchase.

Lenovo N42

And we round up our list with a really large Chromebook for our budget. We’re talking about a large 14″ display which is great for most.

Its specifications are not the greatest, but the Chromebook still offers a decent performance for the money: it has an Intel N3060 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 16GB eMMC drive for storage. Nothing to really write home about, but if you want a larger display and a bit more room on the keyboard, this should be your choice as there are very slim chances of finding a Chromebook this large under $200.

So these are our recommended Chromebooks under $200. I am happy that we managed to find good and cheap Chromebooks that have a display larger than 11.6-inch as that might be considered in many cases a bit too small. Now just pick the one that you like the most and you’ll surely be happy with your choice!
