ROG Zephyrus M – Editor’s Choice
We’re starting with our top recommendation – a really high quality laptop created by ASUS. While it’s not the best performing one on the list, it grabs our Editor’s Choice award for the price/quality ratio, as well as extended durability.
As we said in the intro, the most important part when choosing a laptop for mining is the quality of the GPU and this model has a really good one. We’re talking about the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q with 8GB GDDR6.
In other words, a beast of a GPU that will keep you extremely happy and your mining as fast as possible. This is a GPU that will remain relevant for at least a couple of years – or even more if we’re talking about gaming only.
It is paired up with a 9th Gen Intel Core i7-9750H processor, as well as 16GB of RAM. While these are not out of this world specs, they will still ensure maximum capacity mining.
Remember that this laptop was created as a solid gaming laptop and not specifically for mining, so you get a lot of nice extras, like a solid 1TB SSD and a perfect display: 15.6″ with a 240Hz refresh rate. It’s nice to have these extras if you plan to use it for other things, not exclusively for mining.
The proprietary dual cooling system does a good job keeping temperatures in check – but it’s still recommended to get an external cooling pad to keep the numbers as low as possible.
Thanks to its overall specifications – but especially the amazing GPU – this model grabs the Editor’s Choice award. You get great performance at a fair price. The perfect mix!

Acer Predator Helios 300 (Best Budget)
If you’re on a low budget, but you still want to do some mining with your laptop, this is one of the best choices at the moment.
Actually a pretty solid gaming laptop overall, it will get the job done as it ticks two important boxes for mining cryptocurrencies: it has a great processor and a solid GPU.
While the graphics card is a bit outdated, it’s still a solid one. WE’re talking about the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU which is still one of the best on the market at the moment. The graphics card has 6GB of DDR6. And if you consider the laptop’s price, you really can’t do better.
The CPU of this laptops is equally impressive: a 9th generation Intel Core i7-9750H Hexa-Core Processor that goes up to 4.5 GHz when turbo boosted. In other words, a perfect match for mining, gaming and anything else.
Finally, the system is rounded up by 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage, which make it a really good laptop for everyday use or gaming if you don’t want to invest in a laptop dedicated entirely to mining.
It is a portable laptop with a display size of 15.6″. It has sone other cool features, like a good screen and a backlit keyboard – things that don’t matter that much if you want it exclusively for mining but it’s always nice to have them.
When it comes to cooling, it does offer an intelligent cooling options with a two-fan system using the proprietary 4th generation Aeroblade 3D Fan. Despite all these, getting an additional cooling pad would be a great idea.
For this budget though, we’re talking about a decent laptop which can be considered a nice entry point in the world of cryptocurrency mining.

MSI Creator 15
If you have a larger budget to invest in your crypto-mining laptop, the MSI Creator 15 is a really good choice.
First of all, it comes with a GeForce RTX 2070 Super graphics card with 8GB of RAM, which is a really solid and reliable GPU.
It also has 32GB of RAM and is powered by the Intel Core i7-10875H CPU, which round op the overall specifications quite nicely, making this model a solid choice.
It also has an 1TB SSD for storage, which is more than welcome especially if you plan to use it regularly and not just for mining.
The good thing is that it comes with increased cooling capabilities if compared with your regular laptop. It’s also 15% better than the previous design, so definitely a solid option.
It has 3 fans and 6 heat pipes to keep temperatures low – but even so we still recommend using additional cooling for it so consider a cooling pad a must.
An interesting feature comes from its Creator Center. This model is actually intended for heavy use by content creators (video editing, for example) and it has additional software to optimize resource consumptions.
This means that you can easily tweak it to get the most out of it when mining, which is always appreciated.
While the MSI Creator 15 is definitely not a cheap laptop, it’s a really solid one that will do a good job mining for you.

Razer Blade 15
Now, if you have a really large budget to invest in your mining laptop, this is the ultimate beast. It’s one of the best products available on the market at the moment, but unfortunately its price matches the specs.
So even though this model is the best on our list (performance-wise), it is the high price that prevented us from choosing it as the Editor’s Choice. But definitely if you have no problems with the asking price, you should get this one!
And talking about the specs, here is what you’re getting: for starters, a top notch GPU, the NVIDIA RTX 2080 Super Max-Q with 8GB of RAM. This one is 25% faster than the original RTX 20 series!
But the good stuff doesn’t end here! The CPU is made to match it: a 10th Generation, 8-core Intel Core i7-10875H processor going all the way up to 5.1 GHz as well as a solid 16GB of RAM. This is indeed a beast that is VR-ready, so it can handle practically anything, not just cryptocurrency mining.
But the thing that I like the most here is the extra attention paid to the system’s cooling features. The system uses Razer’s proprietary technology which is pretty impressive.
We’re talking about a vacuum sealed, liquid filled copper vapor chamber that handles the cooling, ensuring that all components stay at optimal temperatures. This is the only model on our list that can easily run without additional cooling (although a cooling pad wouldn’t hurt it at all).
The only problem is that this laptop is insanely expensive. I don’t even think that it will be able to pay for the costs very soon after purchase… and with the crypto market being so volatile, it might be risky to invest all your money in it if you will only use it for mining.
But if you get it for gaming as well – or if you do the math and decide it’s worth the cost, we’re definitely talking about a top product here!

Acer Predator Triton 500
We’re rounding up our list with an alternative to all the models recommended above – the Acer Predator Triton 500.
The truth is that the specifications it offers are not very different compared to the other models, but it’s good to have some sort of variety and more options to choose from, in case other items get out of stock.
With these in mind, it’s worth mentioning that this model offers a solid GPU – the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Graphics with Max-Q (8GB RAM), as well as a solid Intel i7-10750H processor and 16GB of RAM.
Storage is just 512GB on a SSD, but you don’t really need a ton of storage space when your main activity will be cryptocurrency mining with your laptop.
When it comes to cooling, it also has a 3-fan system dedicated to keep temperatures as low as possible. Pair it up with a cooling pad and you shouldn’t have any major problems with heating.
Overall, this 15.6″ gaming laptop offers a lot of goodies for regular use, including a backlit keyboard, multiple ports for increased connectivity and a 300Hz display.

These would be the best laptops to mine cryptocurrency this year. One extremely important piece of advice I can offer is: start as soon as possible in order to reap on the benefits as fast as possible!
Mining becomes more and more difficult as time passes and competition increases (while the number of available coins decreases in many cases), so starting early is important.
Of course, don’t consider this article as financial advice. It’s up for you to decide what’s the best course to follow from now on and you are the only one responsible for how you spend your money.
Can you mine cryptocurrency with your laptop?
You can indeed mine with your laptop and you can get good results depending on the type of currency you’re mining. But one thing should be considered: laptops will overheat when mining.
Computers will do too, but it’s easier to cool them down and build custom computers for mining purposes only. With laptops, you have to work with what you get or consider additional methods, like getting additional cooling pads.
But having this extra heating could mean that the life spawn of your laptop might be greatly reduced.
This doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to turn in a profit before doing so, especially if you choose your coins carefully, it just means that laptops are not natively made for mining.
Just do the math to make sure that you’re indeed making a profit (make sure to include electricity costs as well!). Many people still do and they will probably keep on doing for a long time now, especially with the increasing prices of various coins out there.
Plus, you can get added benefits from your top notch laptop – you can play modern games on it and use it as a personal computer when you’re not mining.
What cryptocurrencies and altcoins to mine?
Everybody knows about Bitcoin as it is the most popular and best valued cryptocurrency on the market at the moment. But this also means that competition is fierce when it comes to mining it.
There are companies dedicated to mining Bitcoin exclusively – mining companies with multiple employees and tens of computers working non stop.
This means that if you start mining Bitcoin with your laptop, no matter how good it is, your chances of actually getting something in return are limited.
This is why our recommendation is to mine altcoins. Altcoins (alternative coins) are other cryptos that you can mine – a lot easier than Bitcoin – and which can be turned into Bitcoin after getting them or turned into fiat coin (like USD or Euro) directly.
Since the competition is not as intense when it comes to mining these alternative coins, you can make some nice profits by mining them – and this is where most of the people are making their money now.
You should do your own research here and choose a coin that has a decent market value and market cap, then start mining it. Chances are that if you only have a laptop for mining purposes, you’ll get way better profits by going this route.
Make sure to read our recommendations on the best coins to mine this year. The market is constantly changing, so make sure you do additional research and always mine the most profitable coin possible.
PRO TIP: One extremely important thing to consider is buying an extended warranty for your laptop. It increases the costs a bit, but adding 1 to 3 extra years of warranty keeps you on the safe side in case of problems caused by overheating.
But if you’re careful, this shouldn’t be an issue as there are many people mining on a laptop without breaking it.

Maurice, every person will say a different altcoin when asked. Just make your choice and go for it. They are not mined using software per-se - in most cases, you will need to download their official wallet or a program available on their website. Either way, all the details will be on the official website of the coin you are planning to start mining.
