Now let’s get a bit more in depth and see why each of these laptop cooling pads made their way onto our top list this year.

havit HV-F2056

Havit Cooling Pad for Gaming Laptops

The first thing that you will notice is how light this laptop cooling pad is, despite the metallic mesh. Next, you will see that it comes with three fans that have a relatively strange placement on the pad.

But they work – and they work well – keeping temperatures much lower when using your laptop and that is all that matters.

The fans themselves go up to 1,100 RPM and can be adjusted with 200 RPM intervals – but most likely, you will keep them running at maximum at all times.

One huge advantage here is that the fans are incredibly silent. We tested the product on an ASUS TUF Gaming A17 – and the laptop fans were sometimes louder than those of the cooling pad.

The good news is that the Havit HV-F2056 fits any laptop size between 15.6″ to 17″ so it offers a lot of options.

Also, due to the fact that it is very slim and light, it’s easy to carry around, not adding a lot of extra weight if you’re constantly on the go.

It also has two height adjustments for you, as well as additional USB ports at the back in case you somehow need extra ones when operating your laptop.

I am not really sold by the three-fan setup, but it works and that’s all that matters.

Also, I personally don’t like the fact that it has that blue light when operating, which can’t be turned off. It’s not that annoying and your laptop covers most of it anyway, but it’s still something I wanted more control over.

Aicheson Laptop Cooling Pad

Aicheson Gaming Laptop Cooling Pad

At the moment of writing this article, the Aicheson Cooling Pad is Amazon’s Choice for RGB pads, so you know it’s indeed one really high quality product. A great little gadget for all gamers thanks to its fully customizable RGB bands.

But we’re not getting it for its looks, we’re getting it for its performance, and it does deliver greatly in this area. It has a single, humongous fan that delivers extra cooling to your system.

The fan only goes up to 800 RPM, but even at these lower speeds, it managed to cool down the temperatures significantly and keep them low during prolonged gaming sessions.

It has a metallic panel, which I ended up appreciating more than plastic ones. It has relatively large holes to allow for a better air flow. It is also as silent as a fan can get. This is also a big bonus.

What I liked about this one was the fact that it comes with 7 different height adjustments. While I found it a bit difficult to adjust the height with my laptop on the pad, it only takes second to change the height.

Even more, it has a detachable anti slip baffle, which is useful if you prefer running your laptop at the highest setting. This is how I usually use it, with an external keyboard and I really love it. Perfect air flow and those RGB lights are a dream!

If you don’t like them, though, you can turn them off with the press of a button. You can also change the speed of the fan using a wheel at the back, where you will find an additional USB port should you need one.

All in all, this is a solid option for gamers – made even better by its amazing design. It only has one fan but it is large and good and can handle long gaming sessions.

TopMate C5 – Editor’s Choice

TopMate C5 Gaming Laptop Cooling Pad

This cooling pad is only suitable for smaller laptops – so it will work with 15.6″ laptops only (or smaller, of course). At least this is what the manufacturer recommends – I placed my 17″ ASUS TUF on it and even though it was wider, it still worked great and there were no stability issues.

It has a 5-fan setup, with a large fan in the middle (1,200 RPM) and four additional fans to the side (up to 2,400 RPM). This offers perfect air flow and cooling capabilities.

It has some nice bells and whistles too, with a touch-display for controlling its features. From turning the nice fan lights on/off to adjusting the fan settings, you’re doing it all with a next-gen feel.

This cooling pad allows you to select one of the 6 preset fan speeds as well as use just the middle fan, the four side fans or all five. This is useful if you need to save some energy, but otherwise it’s usually full speed, maximum numbers ahead!

You also get 5 different height adjustments from it which comes in handy. There is also a hinge that you can flip to prevent your laptop from slipping.

While still very portable, it is heavier than the others we have recommended so far at around 2.1 lbs.

Just keep in mind that it’s recommended for laptops up to 15.6″ and not larger – even though in some cases, you could use a larger laptop as well. No need to push it though, since you have other options for large laptops on this list.

AFMAT Laptop Cooler

AFMAT Laptop Cooling Pad

Even though this is one of those very generic brands you don’t really know anything about, the laptop cooling pad works really well and comes with some truly impressive concepts that make it worth your while and money (since this is the most expensive product on our list, at the moment of writing).

The biggest difference you will notice with it when comparing with other gaming laptop cooling pads is the design. Coming without a mesh and just two fans located in the upper side of the pad, it looks strange at first, but it does make sense.

The two fans take the cold air from the room and blow it downwards, resulting in a reduced temperature. You’ll notice temperatures dropping around 15 degrees celsius, which is pretty good actually. An interesting cooling system that works.

But this cooling pad also takes care of your laptop and keeps it as dust-free as possible. It has two filters that can be cleaned, which keep most of the dust away. A nice addition and something I haven’t seen before.

It works well with laptops sized 14″ to 17.3″ and it has 7 height adjustments. It comes with an adjustable baffle as well, one that fits your laptop in place and “seals” it on the base to eliminate air flow loss.

You control everything with a push of a button – you can select various lights that add a nice touch to the cooling pad (with various intensities) and also set the fan speed to one of the free preset ones.

Due to its unique design, this beast offers RPMs of up to 4,500 – which is pretty insane. It’s also pretty loud to – so don’t think that this is one of those silent pads.

On the contrary, at maximum speed, it’s pretty loud. Therefore, it’s best to use headphones when gaming in order to mask the sound. Most of us usually do, anyway.

All in all, despite the fact that this is not a known brand, it is a good product with some really nice and innovative approaches to the way laptop cooling is handled.

Kootek Chill Mat 5

Kootek Chill Mat 5 - Gaming Laptop Cooling pad

Similar in design with the TopMate model recommended earlier, the Kootek Chill Mat 5 offers 5 fans to handle the cooling – a large one in the middle and four smaller ones to the sides. The large fan runs at 1,000 RPM, while the smaller ones are faster at around 2,000 RPM.

Silent and straightforward, this cooling pad does its job in a similar matter to the previously recommended TopMate C5 so choosing between one or another is mostly a design thing – or maybe the one that is cheaper.

You get three operating modes – with just the middle fan working or just the four smaller ones or all. You also get the default backlight when the fans are operating but you can’t control it individually.

This one works will popular laptop sizes, from 12- to 17-inch and also offers different height adjustments on 6 levels. It also has two flip-on plastic switches that can be used to prevent your laptop from slipping if using one of the wider angles.

KLIM Pro

Created by Klim Technologies, a young company that is very popular in Europe, this cooling pad will definitely keep your laptop happy thanks to its two huge fans that blast air constantly to keep temperatures low.

Despite the large size of the fans, they go up to 1,200 RPM which is pretty good. They are also as silent as fans get, so they won’t interfere with your work or gaming sessions.

While it doesn’t offer a lot of options when it comes to controlling it, it is a plug and play solution that works well for those who don’t really want more control over its features.

One downside for those with a larger gaming laptop is that it only accommodates laptops with a display of up to 15.6″.

It has a cheap plastic feel to it, that is true, but it does look good overall and is extremely light at around 1 pound. Very portable and easy to use, it could definitely be a perfect option for those who want something with basic features that also looks good.

Cooler Master NotePal

If you are on a very limited budget, the cheapest gaming laptop cooling pad on our list will surely work well for you. While not as impressive in erms of features as other products on our list, it gets the job done well and this is what matters the most.

While it is powered by just one fan, it’s a really fast one that goes up to 1,500 RPM, which is enough to keep the air flowing and the temperatures low.

It doesn’t really have any other features – no lights, no real controls of any sort, but you do have two different height settings for it, which come in handy. While they don’t offer a ton of options it’s still better than nothing.

The cooling pad works well with models up to 17.3″ but we it’s a bit short for the ASUS TUF Gaming A17 so it works best with 15.6″ models or lower.

Still, if you are on a budget and you need extra cooling for your gaming laptop, this one will do a good job for the money. It’s not the coolest kid on the block, but it works hard and gets the job done. And in the end, that is all that matters.

Conclusion

The recommended models above cover all price ranges and offer all sorts of designs to fit your style and to become a great addition for your laptop gaming setup.

But, most importantly, they keep your laptop cool which in turn will increase its life and performance.

If I were to choose one from the list, it would definitely be the TopMate C5 because it has everything you can wish for from a laptop cooling pad, it is durable and has an amazing design.

While it doesn’t beat the Aicheson model in terms of style, I still prefer it better than the rest.

But in the end, it’s up for you to decide which is the best one for you. All the products above deliver a great performance and you will be happy with any of the cooling pads you choose.
