12-Inch MacBook Upgraded by Apple with New Processor, Better Battery & More

Well, that certainly didn’t take long! It was yesterday when we reported the rumor regarding Apple’s plans to bring us a brand new 12-Inch MacBook and today they announced the launch of the brand new product, one that makes the thinnest and lightest Mac better than ever. Read on to find out everything about the new 12-Inch MacBook models that are available for purchase starting today.

According to Apple, the new 12-Inch MacBook now delivers better performance thanks to the sixth-generation dual-core Intel Core M processors up to 1.3 GHz, with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.1 GHz, and faster 1866 MHz memory. The new integrated HD Graphics 515 will deliver up to 25% faster graphics performance, which is always a good thing. Finally, the faster PCIe-based flash storage makes launching apps or files even faster than before, so it’s pretty clear that Apple were after a performance boost with this update. They also managed to extend battery life by 1 hour, too!

MacBook is the thinnest and lightest Mac we have ever made and it’s our vision for the future of the notebook,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Customers are going to love this update to MacBook, with the latest processors, faster graphics, faster flash storage, longer battery life and a beautiful rose gold finish.”

The brand new 12-inch Macbook is available in four aluminum finishes: the traditional gold, silver and space gray colors and, for the first time on a Mac, a surprisingly nice rose gold finish that will surely become the most popular option. Check it out below:

Depending on the model you choose, prices will vary between $1,299 and $1,599 – which is a lot if you compare the 12-inch Macbook with laptops that offer similar performance, but Apple products were never considered cheap anyway and fans won’t mind.
